Box Score The AU volleyball team raised its record to 17-6, 9-3 in the GLIAC, with a 3-0 win over Walsh on Friday night (Nov. 1) at Kates Gymnasium.
The Eagles have a three-match winning streak and have won four of their last five matches. Ashland has won its last matches by 3-0 verdicts.
The loss drops Walsh to 4-18, 1-11 in the conference.
The Cavaliers made life difficult for the Eagles. All three sets were tight. The Eagles won, 25-19, 25-22 and 25-22.
In the second set, Ashland had leads of 22-21 and 23-22 before finally putting away the Cavaliers. In the third set, the Eagles owned a 14-12 lead before taking four consecutive points to go in front, 18-12.
Samantha Zuber led all players in the match with 13 kills. Alli Cudworth had 12 kills. Marci Zegarac had a match-high 16 digs. Shelly DeHenning recorded 35 assists.
Kelsey Snider had 11 kills to pace Walsh. Paige Chandler had 14 digs.
AU honored the five seniors on this year's team - Baley Bernthisel, Kate Eckels, Susie Jonas, Megan Rohlfs and Zegarac - prior to the match.
The Eagles host Malone on Saturday (Nov. 2, 2 p.m.). That is the final regular season home match of the season.
