Box Score ASHLAND, Ohio – In its third match of the season, the AU volleyball team suffered its first defeat, falling to Northern Kentucky in straight sets, 25-22, 25-22, 25-16, Saturday (Sept. 3) morning at the UIndy Invitational.
One match after holding West Florida to a negative -.020 hitting percentage, the Norse hit .337 in an efficient offensive attack to down the Eagles.
Freshman Alyx Crislip (Louisville, Ohio) led the Eagles (2-1) with eight kills in 18 attacks with just one error for a .389 hitting percentage. Freshman Kathy Fletcher (West Chicago, Ill./Community) was 6-for-11 on attack for Ashland.
Junior setter Crystal Elliott (Canal Winchester, Ohio) had 24 assists and four digs. Senior libero Arian Martin (Independence, Ohio) had a team-high nine digs.
Kim Nemcek led the Norse (1-0) with nine kills and a .500 hitting percentage. Jenna Schreiver had a match-high 36 assists.
The Eagles finish their opening weekend in Indianapolis at 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon against Missouri S&T.
