#15 Franki Gironda * 1B * JR * R/R * Akron, Ohio/Hoban

At Ashland: Gironda took over as the starting first baseman a year ago. She was solid defensively and showed vast improvement at the plate. She was named honorable mention all-conference.  Gironda is penciled in as the starting first baseman in 2012 and will be asked to hit in the middle of the order.  As a freshman in 2010, Gironda saw time off the bench at first base.

High School: Gironda earned nine varsity letters at Hoban, competing in softball (four), soccer (three) and basketball (two).  She was an All-North Coast League pick in softball and was named second team all-district in soccer.  Gironda was named Academic All-Ohio two times each in softball and soccer.  As a freshman, she hit .515.  In softball, she played on teams that won three league titles, two district crowns and one regional championship.

Personal: Gironda’s parents are Frank and Pam Gironda.  Gironda is an athletic training major.
