Biography

2011-12: The junior became one of the most prolific scoring guards in the GLIAC...was 16th in the conference in scoring (13.1 ppg.)...was third in free throw percentage (.899), fifth in three-point field goal percentage (.442), seventh in assist-turnover ratio (1.9) and eighth in three-pointers per game (2.0)...logged a GLIAC-high 35.0 minutes per game...named second team All-GLIAC...finished ninth in the nation in free throw percentage...fired in a career-high 31 points at Findlay (Jan. 5)...against the Oilers, went 16-of-17 at the free throw line...had four games where he scored 20 or more points...had 24 points at home against Point Park (Nov. 23)...fired in a season-high five three-pointers against Point Park and also had a season-high six rebounds against the Pioneers...during the final three games of the year, went 9-for-15 (.600) from three-point range...recorded a career-high seven assists against Ohio Dominican (Jan. 14)...scored in double digits 20 times and had four or more three-pointers three times...was second on the team in scoring and assists (58/2.2 apg.)...was the team leader in three-point field goals (53) and free throw percentage.

2010-11: Steward appeared in 15 games in his first season with the Eagles, making nine starts as the primary point guard… the sophomore transfer from Akron missed the final eight games of the season with an injury… he was third on the team in scoring at 8.5 points per game and had 32 assists… he scored a season-high 19 points in an 85-62 win over Rio Grande on Nov. 23 and knocked down all five of his three-point attempts in the game… Steward shot 38 percent (43-for-112) from the field and 83 percent (30-for-36) from the line… he scored in double figures five times and had at least one made field goal in 14 of his 15 games played… Steward handed out a season-best five assists at Lake Superior State (Jan. 22).

High School/College: Steward was a first team all-state, all-district and all-city choice while playing for Eastmoor Academy… tabbed as the team MVP four times… named the District Two player of the year and the Columbus Dispatch player of the year… as a senior was rated as the top point guard in Ohio by Rivals.com… participated in the Nike All-American camp… completed his prep career as Eastmoor Academy’s career scoring leader…scored over 2,000 points… led Eastmoor to a district championship… Eastmoor finished as the Columbus City League runnerup with Steward in the lineup… transferred to AU from the University of Akron.

Personal: The AU guard is the son of Beatrice and Ronald Steward… Ronald Steward played football at West Liberty State… is a marketing/business management major.
