The No. 11-ranked Ashland University women's soccer team started its Florida trip with a 2-1 loss to top-ranked and defending NCAA Division II national champion Florida Tech on Thursday (Sept. 3) night.
 
Each team tallied in the first half. In the 22^nd minute, Eboni Bradshaw scored for the Panthers on an assist from Charlotte Waibel.
 
Ashland knotted the score in the 30^th minute when freshman forward Brooke Benne potted her first collegiate goal on a feed from another rookie forward, Aubrey Krischano. The assist was Krischano's first as an Eagle.
 
Florida Tech scored the eventual game-winner in the 52^nd minute, when Alice Mottershead's unassisted goal found the back of the AU net.
 
Six of the game's eight corner kicks were taken by Ashland, while Florida Tech had a 12-5 shots advantage.
 
The Eagles are 1-1-1 early in 2026, and the Panthers are 3-0.
 
Ashland will end its trip on Saturday (Sept. 5) at 7 p.m. at No. RV Rollins (3-0).
