Eagles Sweep Storm For Second Time In Less Than A Week

In the second match-up between the two teams in five days, Ashland University's volleyball team topped Lake Erie, 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-16), on Tuesday (Sept. 29) night at the Sherrill Hudson Court at Kates Gymnasium.

Thanks to their 10th win in the last 11 outings, the Eagles improve to 13-2 overall and 8-0 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. AU's 15-match start is its best since also beginning 13-2 in 2019.

"It was a great team win," said first-year Ashland head coach Alicia Wood, who earned her 100th career win overall on Saturday (Sept. 26) at home vs. Ursuline – and got started on the next 100 on Tuesday. "Very proud of our girls for staying composed tonight.

"I'm just focused on getting my 100th win as an Eagle. That's my vision, that's my goal."

The match was the only conference contest on Tuesday (two other teams played non-league matches), meaning the Eagles remain one of three Great Midwest teams still undefeated in conference action.

Tuesday's victory was the Eagles' 10th sweep of the season, tied for AU's highest total since 2024 (also 10).

The Eagles hit .316 as a team in the win, their fourth-highest percentage so far in 2026. Junior middle blocker Livi Miller (.500) and junior outside hitter Sara Krizsa (.444) each had a team-high nine kills.

With 12 digs, senior libero Abbey Queen now has 1,350 as an Eagle – five away from tying Jennifer Bartlett (1,355) for fifth place on the program's all-time list.

The Storm hit .087 in the match, marking the sixth time AU has kept a team to hitting less than .100 this fall.

Ashland's winning streak over Lake Erie (5-9, 3-5) was extended to 12 matches on Tuesday night.

The third of four straight home matches for AU will be Friday (Oct. 2) at 6 p.m. vs. Malone (4-10, 2-3). That will be the Eagles' Attack Cancer and Pink Out match.
