The Ashland University men's soccer team played host to Cedarville in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference game at Ferguson Field on Saturday (Sept. 26) afternoon, losing 2-1.
Ashland moves to 3-6 overall and 2-4 in the league, and the Yellow Jackets improve to 4-5-1, 4-2.
Cedarville took the lead in the 25
th minute on a goal from Eddie Merck, which was assisted by both Austin Robertson and Augie Jacus.
Ashland's equalizer came in the 58
th minute, when senior midfielder
Sergio Ruiz potted his second goal of 2026 on a feed from freshman forward
Owen Beskid (third assist of the season).
Cedarville, however, scored the go-ahead and eventual game-winning goal in the 60
th minute. Merck connected left to right on helpers from Parker Burke and Bryan Cortina.
Shots were 10-9 in favor of the Yellow Jackets, and corner kicks were 4-2 in favor of the Eagles.
The Eagles will play the third of four straight home contests on Homecoming, Oct. 3 at 3:30 p.m. vs. Findlay.
