Consistency led Ashland University's men's golf team to an eighth-place finish at the 17-team, 54-hole University of Indianapolis Invitational on Tuesday (Sept. 22).
The Eagles ended the tourney at 289-288-287. McKendree was the team titlist (279-275-283—837), followed by Davenport (274-287-278—839) and Hillsdale (281-284-282—847).
Sophomore
Charlie Drapp completed his first tournament of the young 2026-27 season with a tied-for-fifth place individual finish, ending at 66-70-71—207 and with 17 birdies. Next up were freshmen
Zach Ayers (tied for 36
th, 71-72-74—217, 10 birdies) and
Ethan Krebs (tied for 38
th, 76-71-71—218, 12 birdies).
Rounding out the team play for the Eagles in Indy were junior
Mark Pillar (76-76-71—223, eight birdies) and freshman
Drew Deken (76-75-74—225, six birdies).
Playing as an individual was junior
Michael Fickle, who tied for 29
th at 72-68-76—216 (six birdies).
Ashland's men will play host to the Crossroads Cup on Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 28-29) in Nashport, Ohio.
