Ashland University's volleyball team has won two home Great Midwest Athletic Conference matches in less than 24 hours, as, on Saturday (Sept. 12) afternoon, it was a 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-16) victory over Kentucky Wesleyan on the Sherrill Hudson Court at Kates Gymnasium.
 
The Eagles move to 7-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference thanks to a fourth consecutive win. Six of AU's seven wins so far this season have been sweeps, and this is the program's best eight-match start in eight years (also 7-1 in 2018).
 
Ashland is 9-0 all-time vs. the Panthers in Great Midwest play – and the Eagles not have lost a set to KWC (3-7, 0-2) in that time.
 
Defensively, Ashland kept Kentucky Wesleyan to a hitting percentage of minus-.022. During the winning streak, AU has yielded a hitting percentage of no better than .080 in any match.
 
Both senior libero Abbey Queen and sophomore outside hitter Jenna Shedden paced AU with 10 digs, while Shedden added a team-high 11 kills. Senior setter Kylee Urban set up 10 kills in the victory.
 
The Eagles will play the last of three consecutive conference matches at home on Tuesday (Sept. 15) at 6 p.m. vs. Tiffin. This will be AU's Morgan's Message / Purple Theme match.
