Shedden, Duran Start Off 2026-27 Eagle Great Midwest Athletes Of The Week List

The initial Great Midwest Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week were released on Monday (Aug. 31) afternoon, and a pair of Eagles were on the rolls.
 
Sophomore outside hitter Jenna Shedden earned the volleyball East Division honor for her play over the weekend at the Findlay Classic, while junior goalkeeper Jaime Duran was the men's soccer defensive honoree for his efforts on Sunday (Aug. 30) at Millersville.

As the Eagles started the new campaign at 3-0 on Friday and Saturday (Aug. 28-29), Shedden was named the Classic's Most Valuable Player.
 
In three matches – wins over Davenport (3-1), California, Pa. (3-0) and the host Oilers (3-0) – Shedden totaled 49 kills, a .261 hitting percentage, one assist, 21 digs, and five total blocks (four assists).
 
She had no fewer than a dozen kills in any of those matches, with a high of 20 coming against the Panthers.
 
The Eagles will play a second consecutive road tournament on Friday and Saturday (Sept. 4-5), Indiana, Pa.'s Crimson Hawk Classic.
 
JAIME DURAN
Duran made his AU debut on Sunday at Millersville, recording a shutout with three saves on nine shots faced, as the Eagles earned their first victory of the young season.
 
Ashland men's soccer (1-1) will return to Ferguson Field for its annual bonfire game on Friday (Sept. 4) at 6:30 p.m. vs. No. 11-ranked Gannon (1-1).
