After one day, the Eagles are in second place.
On Monday, April 20, the Ashland University men's golf team competed at the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships, finishing in second place through the opening day of play.
Ahead of them in first sits the University of Findlay Oilers, who have compiled a mark of +2 and 570 total strokes through the opening two rounds. They hold the No. 1 spot individually, with Luke Metzger posting a -3.
While the Eagles will have to do a little chasing on Tuesday, they are in a good spot with a chance to catch the Oilers.
Individually, Charlie Drapp is tied for third with an even clip. He went +1 in the first round before going -1 in the second. Alongside Drapp, Michael Fickle is within the top five, posting a +1. Like Drapp, he went +1 in the first, but went even in the second.
Outside of Drapp and Fickle, Mark Pillar and Carter Mishler are currently tied for 17th (+8), while Shaun Mazzalupi sits 22nd (+9).
The Eagles will be back in action for round three, with hopes of punching a ticket to the medal round, on Tuesday, April 21.Â
