On the first day of the annual Florida spring break trip on Sunday (March 8), the Ashland University softball team scored two runs and had three hits in two games – but earned a split, including a 2-1 win over former conference rival Grand Valley State.
The Eagles are 4-6 through the first 10 games of the 2026 season.
Against the Lakers, it was the Eagles who took an early lead, thanks to a RBI ground out from junior right fielder
Kate Kujawski in the bottom of the first. Grand Valley State knotted the score with a run in the top of the third, but junior left fielder
Delaney Maynard's first home run of the spring broke the 1-1 tie in the bottom of the sixth.
Redshirt freshman pitcher
Olivia Amstutz (2-1) twirled a complete-game three-hitter, allowing an unearned run and three walks and striking out six.
A scoreless tie against Wayne State turned into a Wildcats lead in the bottom of the sixth, as they plated all three of their runs.
Maynard collected all of AU's three hits on Sunday, going 1-for-2 vs. Wayne State and 2-for-3 against GVSU.

Delaney Lis (2-3) took the loss against the Wildcats, yielding six hits, three runs and four walks and striking out three.
