Ashland Women Win Indoors For Third Straight Year, Men For First Time Indoors In G-MAC

To the home victors go twice the spoils.
 
Finishing the 2026 Great Midwest Athletic Conference indoor track and field Championships on Saturday (Feb. 28) at the Niss Athletic Center, both of Ashland University's teams won team conference titles. The Eagle women took the indoor league championship for the third year in a row, the AU men for the first time as a member of the G-MAC.
 
The women's scores saw the Eagles finish with 179.5 points – ahead of Hillsdale (157) and Findlay (118). The Ashland men scored 140 points, followed by Tiffin (133.5) and Findlay (104).
 
Individually/on relays, Ashland's teams combined for eight conference titles – paced again by a thrower with a meet-record effort. Junior Molly Winner, the women's field Athlete of the Meet, set a meet record with an improved provisional mark for the 2026 NCAA Division II Championships in Virginia Beach, Va., on March 13-14, of 16.71 meters/54-feet-10.
 
Two more improved provos in gold medal efforts were junior Odessa Smith in the women's 60-meter hurdles (8.54 seconds) and sophomore Trinity Keith in the men's 60 dash (6.74 seconds).
 
Freshman Jon Lutz won the men's 60 hurdles (7.81 seconds), junior Zach Vales won the men's mile (4:07.82), junior Colton Thress took the men's 800 run (1:50.97), senior Jade Avance crossed first in the women's 800 run (2:08.05), and the women's 4x400 relay quartet of sophomore Brianna Chenevey, sophomore Olivia Saylor, junior Jordan Rosales and Avance won in 3:45.72.
 
Lutz earned men's Freshman of the Meet honors.

  • Wahl in the men's 200 dash (21.66 seconds)
FIFTH PLACE
  • Redshirt freshman Meagan Rini in the women's shot put (13.87 meters/45-feet-6¼ (new provo)
  • Senior Emilie Lemon in the women's mile (5:02.62)
  • Junior Hailey Rios in the women's 60 dash (7.53 seconds, improved provo)
  • Brister in the men's 60 dash (6.84 seconds)
  • Freshman Caleb Hague in the men's heptathlon (4,794 points, new provo)
SIXTH PLACE
  • Junior Kara Fields in the women's 60 hurdles (8.91 seconds), and in the women's high jump (1.62 meters/5-feet-3¾)
  • Freshman Leila Evans in the women's 60 dash (7.59 seconds, improved provo)
  • Sophomore Ty Allen in the men's 60 hurdles (8.00 seconds)
  • Freshman Ed Boehmer in the men's heptathlon (4,617 points)
  • Senior Braeden Geist in the men's 3,000 run (8:23.21)
