No. RV AU Women Survive In PKs, Advance To G-MAC Tourney Title Game

For the second consecutive season, it took penalty kicks for Ashland University's women's soccer team to advance to the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament championship game.

In 2025, it was 13-12 in penalties for the Eagles to top Northwood after a 0-0 first 110 minutes. On Thursday (Nov. 5), it was 3-2 in penalties for No. RV Ashland (13-3-3) to defeat Findlay (13-2-5) at Cedarville after going scoreless for nearly two hours of game time.

With the PK victory in the 2025 conference tournament championship rematch, AU will play in the league title game for a sixth consecutive year on Saturday (Nov. 7) at 2 p.m. against the host Yellow Jackets.

A scoreless first half saw the Eagles out-shoot the Oilers, 6-0, and AU take all five corner kicks. After regulation, the game still was scoreless, with Ashland having a 12-4 shots advantage and a 9-2 corner kicks lead.

Then, the outcome wasn't decided after 110 minutes – no score in either of the two 10-minute overtime periods. By then, the Eagles had 15 shots to the Oilers' five, and AU took 12 of the game's 14 corner kicks.

In PKs, senior midfielder Ella Schneider broke the 2-2 tie in the fifth round, then sophomore goalkeeper Avery Alves – inserted for that phase of the game – made the game-winning save on the Oilers' fifth and final attempt.

Sophomore goalkeeper Izzy Ezzone played all 110 minutes prior to penalties, and made one save for her seventh solo clean sheet of 2026 and the Eagles' 12th of the fall.

Ashland now is 4-0-2 all-time in G-MAC Tournament semifinals, and the Eagles still have never conceded a goal in regulation or overtime in any of those games.
