In a Great Midwest Athletic Conference road game on Thursday (Jan. 8) night, Ashland University's men's basketball team lost 100-86 to Lake Erie.
After seeing their three-game winning streak snapped, the Eagles are 10-5 overall and 4-3 in the conference. The Storm now has won five in a row, and are 10-4, 4-2.
The two teams were tied at 9-9 four minutes in, but back-to-back 3-point field goals allowed the Storm to go up by an 18-12 count. Lake Erie's sixth trey of the game lifted it to a 26-16 advantage with 12 minutes until halftime.
When the two teams went to the locker room at halftime, the Storm led, 51-36. And while Ashland made 60.9 percent from the field in the game's first 20 minutes, Lake Erie hit 10 triples, and turned a dozen AU turnovers into 14 points.
The Eagles finished the game by scoring the last 13 points.
WRAPPING IT UP
- Senior forward Maceo Williams led all scorers on Thursday night with 25 points. He moved into sixth place on Ashland's all-time scoring list with 1,645 for his career, while also tying for fifth place on AU's all-time rebounding list with 744.
- Sophomore forward Jason Moore continued his strong play off the bench, posting 17 points in 17 minutes. He was 6-of-9 from the field and 5-of-5 from the free-throw line.
- Redshirt freshman guard Max Dawson ended with a dozen points off the bench.
- Ashland made 55.4 percent from the field.
