Track and Field Dusty Sloan, Ashland University Director of Athletic Communications

Eagle No. 11 Women, Men Close Louisville Trip With New, Improved Provisional Marks

On Saturday (Jan. 31) in Louisville, Ky., Ashland University's No. 11-ranked women's, and men's indoor track and field teams competed in Day 2 of the NCAA Division I-dominated PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational – earning four nationals marks in the process.
 
In finishing in fourth place in the men's 60-meter hurdles in 7.95 seconds, freshman Jon Lutz improved upon his previous provo for the 2026 NCAA Division II Championships in Virginia Beach, Va., on March 13-14. He broke Trevor Bassitt's freshman indoor record in the process.
 
Senior Braeden Geist (fourth, men's 5,000 run open, 14:19.58), junior Odessa Smith (women's 60 hurdles open semifinals, 8.78 seconds), and the women's 4x400 relay of sophomore Brianna Chenevey, sophomore Olivia Saylor, freshman Leila Evans and senior Jade Avance (13th, 3:48.68) all earned new provisional marks.
 
Junior Molly Winner took third in the women's shot put open at 15.45 meters/50-feet-8¼.
