Winner’s School-Record Weight Throw Highlights Day 1 In Louisville

Molly Winner most definitely is in mid-season form.

Ashland University's junior thrower went down to the NCAA Division I-dominated PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational in Louisville, Ky., and ultimately set a new school record in the women's weight throw open division on Friday (Jan. 30).

Winner's top heave of 21.45 meters/70-feet-4½ keeps her in the No. 1 spot in NCAA Division II, and broke an 11-year-old program record (21.38 meters/70-feet-1¾) set by Shatora Lewis in 2015.

In the women's 800-meter run A division on Friday, senior Jade Avance finished second in 2:07.64 – improving upon her previous provisional mark for the 2026 NCAA Division II Championships in Virginia Beach, Va., on March 13-14. Avance now is the No. 2 runner in the country in the event.

Also in the women's 800 run A, senior Hope Sievert earned a new provo at 2:10.87, finishing fifth.

The men's pole vault A division saw graduate Brayden Jackson tie for third at 5.12 meters/16-feet-9½.
