It was a happy homecoming for Ashland University's men's and women's indoor track teams on Saturday (Jan. 24), as the first home meet of the 2025-26 season at the Niss Athletic Center was an unqualified success.

Three Eagles not only won, but earned new facility and meet records in the process – senior
Jade Avance in the women's 800-meter run (2:09.16, improved provisional mark for nationals), junior
Colton Thress in the men's 800 run (1:50.78, new provo), and even assistant coach
DaJuan Seward in the men's triple jump (15.21 meters/49-feet-11).

Vivian Walter was second in the women's 60 hurdles in 8.75 seconds – in what would have been new facility and meet standards.

Sophomore
Hayden Valenti won the men's weight throw with an improved provo distance of 19.52 meters/64-feet-0½. In the men's high jump, junior
Matthew Noel (2.09 meters/6-feet-10ÂĽ) and freshman
Braxton Moore (2.04 meters/6-feet-8ÂĽ) finished 1-2 with new provos.

Brayden Jackson won the men's pole vault at with a new provo of 5.20 meters/17-feet-0Âľ, while sophomore
Carter Smith was fourth at an improved provo distance of 4.90 meters/16-feet-0Âľ.

- Freshman Tierra Johnson in the women's high jump (1.62 meters/5-feet-3Âľ).
THIRD PLACE
Slippery Rock's throws coach, Jordan Geist, put up the No. 1 shot put mark in the world so far this winter at 21.63 meters/70-feet-11Âľ.
