The 14-team Virtues Intercollegiate, hosted by Bowling Green at The Virtues Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio, saw the first 36 holes played on Monday (Sept. 29).
Ashland University's men's golf team wasn't out of place at the NCAA Division I-dominated event, as the Eagles finished Day 1 in ninth place. AU ended the day at 303-295—598. Notre Dame's B Team is first (278-279—557), followed by Loyola-Chicago (288-285—573) and both Western Kentucky (285-289—574) and Butler (283-291—574).
Sophomore
Mark Pillar continued his strong fall by ending the first day in a tie for 20
th individually at 76-69—145. Pillar had seven birdies on Monday, including five in Round 2.
Senior
Scott Armstrong is tied for 44
th (73-77—150, eight birdies), sophomore
Shaun Mazzalupi is tied for 52
nd (77-74—151, six birdies), sophomore
Michael Fickle is tied for 57
th (77-75—152, eight birdies, five in Round 2), and redshirt freshman
Julian Myers is 83
rd (78-85—163, one eagle, two birdies).
