No. 12 AU Women End Michigan Trip With Win At Davenport

The No. 12-ranked Ashland University women's soccer team moved back to the .500 mark on the young 2025 season, topping Davenport 4-1 on the road on Sunday (Sept. 14) afternoon.

Prior to the start of Great Midwest Athletic Conference play, Ashland sits at 2-2, and the Panthers are 0-2-2.

Ashland wasted little time taking a lead, as, in the seventh minute, senior forward Dani Hicks potted her second goal of the young season. The assist went to sophomore forward Sofia Devine – the first point of her collegiate career.

In the 11th minute, the AU lead increased to 2-0 thanks to a goal from junior defender Clara Richardson – her first of 2025, and unassisted.

Hicks' second goal of the game, in the 59th minute and unassisted, lifted AU to a 3-nil advantage. Her 35th goal at Ashland put her alone in fifth place on the program's all-time list, and with 90 career points, Hicks is up to sixth on that list.

The brace is Hicks' sixth as an Eagle.

Davenport got on the board in the 79th minute on a goal from Kyle Shelton, assisted by Madison Fant. Ashland, however, took the three-goal gap back right before game's end when freshman midfielder Karleigh Cress put in her first collegiate goal, unassisted.

WRAPPING UP THE WIN
  • Fifth-year goalkeeper Jaya Daniel made three saves to earn the win on Sunday.
  • Ashland took 15 shots to Davenport's seven, and the Eagles had nine of the game's 11 corner kicks.
