As announced on Tuesday (June 10) afternoon, Ashland University's athletic department has concluded the 2024-25 athletic year in 17
th place in the NCAA Division II Learfield Directors' Cup, the department's top finish in six years.
The Eagles' total points of 552.75 in 2024-25 are the department's highest since 2018-19 (583.50). AU's 17
th-place showing also is its best since 2018-19, when it was ninth in the country.
"A hearty congratulations and thank you goes out to all the student-athletes, coaches and staff who contributed to us finishing 17
th in the final Learfield Directors' Cup standings for this year," said Ashland Director of Athletics
Al King. "We understand that athletics has a number of indicators, weights and standards, and this is one of the most prominent ones. Take this finish, along with what we accomplished in the classroom and community, and we have a lot to celebrate."
Thirteen teams contributed Directors' Cup points during the 2024-25 season:

Ashland University's athletic department has had 10 top-10 national Directors' Cup finishes since the Cup began in 1995-96, with a top placement of second in 2014-15. AU also has been in the Top 20 in the country 20 times.
The 17
th-place finish is 37 slots higher than in 2023-24 (54
th) – the athletic department's biggest one-year improvement since the Cup first was awarded 29 years ago.
The LEARFIELD Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
