A three-way tie for first place in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference became a two-way tie on Saturday (April 5) following Ashland University's women's lacrosse team's 21-3 win at Tiffin.
The Eagles improve to 8-5 overall and 4-0 in the Great Midwest following their fifth win in the last six games. The Dragons are 7-4, 3-1.
In the process of Saturday's victory, junior attacker
Rachel Crumbacher became AU women's lacrosse's all-time points leader. Crumbacher is the first player in program history to record at least 200 points, and with six points on Saturday (two goals, four assists), now has 203 as an Eagle.
ANOTHER 20-PLUS-GOAL GAME…AND THE REST OF THE STORY
- Saturday marked the sixth time this season that Ashland has scored at least 20 points – and fourth time in the last five contests.
- Junior attacker Ashley Fisher, the reigning Great Midwest offensive Athlete of the Week, led the Eagle effort on Saturday with nine points (five goals, four assists). Both Crumbacher and sophomore midfielder Lily Cain ended with six points (three goals, three assists).
- Junior goalkeeper Annie Duncan shut out the Dragons in the first half and made three saves.
- Ashland out-shot Tiffin, 30-9, and forced 27 Dragon turnovers.
