The third and final round of the 2025 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship on Tuesday (April 22) saw Ashland University's men's golf team finish in fifth place in the 11-team field.
Ending with their best round of the tournament (305-313-299—917), the Eagles were 21 strokes behind second-place Ohio Dominican (299-301-296—896) for a spot in the medal match play championship portion of the tournament on Wednesday (April 23). The Panthers and Findlay (283-302-283—868) advance to Wednesday.
Senior
Matthew McMullen ended the tournament in the top 10 individually, tying for sixth place thanks to a third-round 71 (76-75-71—222). McMullen picked up an eagle and seven birdies over two days.
Next was freshman
Mark Pillar, who tied for 17
th at 74-80-75—229 (three birdies). Another rookie,
Charlie Fish, tied for 27
th at 80-80-75—235 (five birdies).
Rounding out Ashland's showing at the conference tournament were junior
Carter Mishler (tied for 29
th, 75-80-81—236, six birdies) and freshman
Shaun Mazzalupi (tied for 31
st, 81-78-78—237, five birdies).
The conference's individual medalist was Findlay's Colin Schadek (72-71-70—213).
