The stroke play portion of the 2025 Great Midwest Athletic Conference men's golf Championship began with 36 holes on Monday (April 21), and Ashland University is in fifth place amongst the 11-team field.
At 305-313—618, the Eagles are 18 strokes behind second-place Ohio Dominican (299-301—600). The two top teams after Tuesday's (April 22) third round will advance to Wednesday's (April 23) head-to-head medal match play championship.
Findlay is in first after the first day at 283-302—585.
Senior
Matthew McMullen paced AU on Day 1, and is tied for 13
th place individually at 76-75—151. He had an eagle and three birdies on Monday.
Freshman
Mark Pillar is next in a tie for 18
th at 74-80—154 and with two birdies, and junior
Carter Mishler is tied for 20
th at 75-80—155 and with three birdies.
Two more rookies,
Shaun Mazzalupi (tied for 34
th, 81-78—159, three birdies) and
Charlie Fish (tied for 37
th, 80-80—160, three birdies), rounded out the Eagle showing to open the conference tournament.
