No. RV Baseball Drops Two At Tiffin

To finish a four-game Great Midwest Athletic Conference series on Sunday (April 13), the No. RV Ashland University baseball team lost twice at Tiffin, 9-5 and 5-3.

The Eagles are 27-10 overall and 16-4 in the conference, three games behind Northwood for first place in the North Division. The Dragons are 15-22, 7-13.

Tiffin scored six times in the bottom of the third inning to take the lead in the first game, then Ashland responded in the top of the fourth with a pair of two-out runs – on a Dragon error and an RBI single by junior second baseman Gavin Dobbels.

With three more runs in the fourth, the Dragons upped their lead to 9-2, but the Eagles got those three runs back in the fifth on another Tiffin error – also with two outs – then an RBI double from senior catcher Ben Peltz.

Ashland struck first in Game 2, scoring twice thanks to a Tiffin error and an RBI double from senior third baseman Jeremiah Cangelosi. The Dragons scored once in the first, then the Eagles got the run back in the second on a double play.

Tiffin scored once in the second to make it a 3-2 AU lead, then, in the seventh, plated two more runs to go ahead 4-3. The Dragons tacked on a run in the eighth for the final margin of victory.

…AND THE REST OF THE STORY
  • In Game 1, Dobbels finished 2-for-3 with an RBI.
