If it's a day that ends in Y, it's likely Ashland University senior
Lily Dowdell will break a school record.
Â
Ashland University's No. 11-ranked women's and Eagle men's outdoor track and field teams opened a weekend competing all over the country with action at the Lee (Tenn.) Fast Break Athletics Invitational on Friday (April 11).
Â
And Dowdell, like she did indoors in four different events, put her name on yet another record book line on Friday – placing fifth in the women's 5,000-meter run in a school-record 16:29.55. That time also is a new provisional mark for the 2025 NCAA Division II Championships, at Pueblo, Colo. on May 22-24.
Â
In the men's 1,500 run, junior
Nate Slater also earned a new provo time, taking third in 3:46.46. In the women's 200 dash, sophomore
Brianna Chenevey won and set a new track record in 24.07 seconds.
Â
The men's 200 dash saw junior
Derrick Amapps take second (21.37 seconds) and senior
Jacob Pielech finish third (21.67 seconds).
Â
UP NEXT
Three different meets on Saturday (April 12) – Lee, the Lenoir-Rhyne Southside Power and Fitness Invitational, and Mount Union's John Homon Open.
