Ashland University's men's golf team concluded its first spring tournament of the 2024-25 season on Tuesday (March 4), tying for eighth place in the 19-team Bearcat Classic at The Patriot Golf Course At Grand Harbor in Ninety Six, S.C.
The Eagles finished the two-day, three-round event at 297-296-292—885. Wingate was the team champion at 287-276-284—847, followed by Grand Valley State (285-288-278—851) and South Carolina Aiken (290-289-279—858).

Carter Mishler and senior
Matthew McMullen ended in a tie for 20
th place – Mishler at 70-75-72—217 (one eagle, 13 birdies), and McMullen at 74-70-73—217 (10 birdies).
Ashland's team showing was rounded out by freshmen
Mark Pillar (tied for 70
th, 76-79-74—229, six birdies),
Shaun Mazzalupi (tied for 70
th, 82-74-73—229, six birdies) and
Charlie Fish (tied for 78
th, 77-77-77—231, six birdies).
Playing as individuals during the tourney were freshman
Sam Sutton (tied for 74
th, 79-73-78—230, 10 birdies), junior
Lukas Schreck (tied for 78

Michael Fickle (tied for 81
st, 78-74-80—232, 12 birdies).
