Eagle Men End Findlay Spring Invite In 11th Place

The Ashland University men's golf team concluded the Findlay Spring Invitational on Tuesday (March 25), finishing in 11th place in the 18-team mostly-Midwest Region field.
 
Senior Matthew McMullen was AU's pacesetter for the tournament, ending in a tie for 15th place individually at 70-74-71—215. McMullen had seven birdies on Tuesday and 15 for the event.
 
Next was freshman Shaun Mazzalupi, who tied for 43rd at 73-76-72—221, and who ended with seven birdies.
 
Rounding out the Eagle team showing were junior Carter Mishler (tied for 54th, 75-73-76—224, eight birdies), freshman Charlie Fish (tied for 54th, 75-76-73—224, nine birdies), and rookie Mark Pillar (tied for 69th, 76-71-80—227, five birdies).
 
Playing as an individual was freshman Sam Sutton, who tied for 45th at 75-73-74—222 and had an eagle and six birdies.
 
The Eagles' team finish was 293-294-292—879. Taking the team title was Missouri S&T (288-286-270—844), followed by Wayne State (283-286-279—848) and the host Oilers (279-288-283—850).
 
Individual medalist was Missouri S&T's Connor Benjamin at 18-under par 68-66-64—198.
