In a game befitting of the top two goalkeepers in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, the No. 13-ranked Ashland University women's soccer team and Northwood played scoreless soccer for 110 minutes, then the Eagles outlasted the Timberwolves in penalty kicks, 13-12, in a Great Midwest Tournament semifinal on Thursday (Nov. 13) night at Ferguson Field.
Â
The Eagles (12-2-5) will take on Findlay (12-3-4) on Saturday (Nov. 15) at 5 p.m. at home for the conference tournament title. Ashland will play in the Great Midwest title game for the fifth consecutive season, and will look for its fourth G-MAC tourney championship.
Â
Northwood is 12-2-5.
Â
The two 2025 Great Midwest co-Goalkeepers of the Year showed why they were voted that way. Fifth-year
Jaya Daniel (11-1-5) made two saves, and Northwood's Lindsay Jacob stopped nine shots, in the first 110 minutes.
Â
Then, with the penalty kicks tied at 12, junior defender
Adi Turnbaugh made her PK to give Ashland the lead, and Daniel stopped the next attempt to give the Eagles the victory.
Â
THE LONG, WINDING ROAD TO A WIN
- Ashland out-shot Northwood, 24-5.
- The Eagles took nine of the game's 10 corner kicks.Â
