Volleyball Takes League Match At Lake Erie In 4

Playing a third consecutive Great Midwest Athletic Conference road contest on Friday (Oct. 3) night, Ashland University's volleyball team took a 3-1 (25-18, 25-27, 25-15, 25-22) decision at Lake Erie.

With a sixth win in the last seven matches, the Eagles improve to 10-3 overall and 5-1 in the league. The 13-match start is AU's best since 2019 (11-2).

Friday's match was Ashland's second win in two weeks over the Storm, and the Eagles' 10th victory overall in the series.

Lake Erie is 5-8, 1-4.

Ashland has had success with its freshman class so far this fall, and that continued on Friday night with outside hitter Kelsey Lykins. Lykins not only had a career-high and match-high 14 kills, her career-high and match-high .520 hitting percentage continued a trend of late – a .500 or better percentage in three of the last four outings.

  • Four AU players finished with double-digit digs – junior libero Abbey Queen (33), freshman defensive specialist Sydney Weickert (16), sophomore outside hitter Samantha Young (15) and senior defensive specialist Macy McNamara (14).
