No one in the last 27 years of Ashland University men's golf has accomplished what senior
Matthew McMullen did on Monday (Sept. 23).
In the first two rounds of the University of Indianapolis Invitational on Monday, McMullen went 66-66—132 to finish 12-under par and in first place on the individual leaderboard. That 132 is the lowest 36-hole total in the program since 1996-97, and the two 66s are tied for second-lowest round since then, as well.
McMullen's rounds lifted Ashland to a fourth-place showing in the nine-team field through two rounds. The Eagles are at 285-281—566, with the second-round score tying for the fourth-best for an AU squad since 1996-97.
Freshman
Charlie Fish, playing as an individual, is tied for fifth at 6-under 70-68—138.
