Closing the 2024 regular season on Senior Day on Saturday (May 4) at Tomassi Stadium and Donges Field at the Archer Ballpark Complex, the No. 14-ranked Ashland University baseball team lost 14-6 to Tiffin.

The Eagles head into the 2024 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament at 38-11 overall and 24-8 in the league, having won the regular-season championship. The Dragons also have qualified for the conference postseason at 23-24, 17-15.

Tiffin exploded in the top of the first inning for five runs, but in the bottom of the first, junior third baseman
Jeremiah Cangelosi roped an RBI double down the left-field line. The Dragons came back with three in the top of the second for an 8-1 lead, and the score remained there until the bottom of the fifth, when sophomore right fielder
Chris Franks delivered a two-out RBI single.

With a run in the top of the sixth, Tiffin re-took a seven-run lead at 9-2, but junior center fielder
Cam Miller drove in a run with single in the bottom of the frame to get that tally back. Later in the sixth, junior left fielder
Max Caron cut the deficit in half with a bases-clearing double to left center.

Tiffin scored five runs in the top of the eighth for the final margin of victory.

- Cangelosi, Caron and sophomore second baseman Gavin Dobbels each had three of AU's 14 hits on Saturday. Caron drove in three runs.
- Ashland's 38 wins this season are tied for the seventh-most in a season in program history.
- Eagle head coach John Schaly has 1,310 career wins, 27th all-time in NCAA college baseball at all levels. No. 26 on the list is Stetson's Pete Dunn (1980-2016) with 1,312 victories.
- Saturday's game featured a combined 20 runs, 30 hits, 15 walks, 27 runners left on base and 16 pitchers used.
