Brenden Jackson went into the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships as the No. 11 seed in the men's 400-meter hurdles.
Jackson, however, will finish no worse than eighth place in the country in the event, as, on Thursday (May 23) night in Emporia, Kan., he earned one of the eight spots in Saturday (May 25) night's finals with a preliminary time of 52.57 seconds.
Also on Thursday:
- Junior Jesse Houle placed 12th in the men's hammer throw at 59.63 meters/195-feet-7.
- Junior Caden Morris finished 13th in the men's long jump at 7.31 meters/23-feet-11¾.
- Redshirt freshman Leslie Pollock was 14th in the women's hammer throw at 51.99 meters/170-feet-7.
- Junior Sarah Masuoka took 18th (tied) in the women's pole vault at 3.70 meters/12-feet-1½.
- In the preliminaries of the women's 400 dash, senior Elizabeth Adams finished 20th in 55.28 seconds.
