Women’s Lacrosse Loses In G-MAC Tourney Semifinal To Oilers

A 2024 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal on Thursday (May 2) afternoon at Walsh saw Ashland University's women's lacrosse team lose to Findlay, 17-14.

The Eagles' best season to date ends at 11-8. Findlay advances to the championship game at 12-6.

Thursday's first quarter was a back-and-forth first 15 minutes – Ashland leading 2-1, then Findlay going up 4-2, then the Eagles scoring three of the period's last four goals for a 5-5 tie.

After both teams scored three times each in the second quarter to go into the half tied at 8, Ashland scored the first three goals of the second half in a little more than three minutes, courtesy of sophomore midfielder Lauren Hinders, and sophomore attackers Ashley Fisher and Rachel Crumbacher.

The Oilers, however, ran off eight straight goals over the end of the third and start of the fourth to go up 16-11. Ashland attempted a late comeback with three late goals, but ran out of time.
