On Thursday (May 2) on Day 2 of the 2024 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hillsdale, each of Ashland University's teams received a league title in the multi events, while the Eagle women added a long jump conference crown.

In the men's decathlon, junior
Wyatt Cory won with 6,520 points – good for a new provisional mark for the 2024 NCAA Division II Championships, May 23-25 in Emporia, Kan.. Freshman
Kara Fields won the women's heptathlon with 4,812 points, also a new nationals provo.

Redshirt freshman
Hailey Rios, the 2024 Great Midwest women's indoor Freshman of the Year and Freshman of the Meet, earned a new provo in winning the women's long jump at 5.96 meters/19-feet-6¾.

More Eagle provisional marks came during Thursday's preliminaries – including three in the women's 400 dash prelim by senior
Elizabeth Adams (improved, 54.79 seconds), junior
Mia Gardner (improved, 55.15 seconds) and sophomore
Jade Avance (new, 55.53 seconds).

Julian Griffin improved upon his previous provo in the men's 110 hurdles prelim with a time of 14.15 seconds.

Gavin Mullen in the men's decathlon (5,143 points).

The team leaderboard after Day 2 has Ashland's men in second place with 45 points (Findlay first with 61), and AU's men in fifth place with 27 points (Hillsdale first with 57 points).
