On Friday (May 10) afternoon, on the third day of the 2024 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio, the No. 20-ranked Ashland University baseball team lost 6-3 to Trevecca Nazarene to finish play.

The Eagles are 40-13, as they await the 2024 NCAA Division II baseball postseason selection show on Sunday (May 12) at 10 p.m. on NCAA.com.. Trevecca Nazarene (31-21) and Tiffin will play for the tournament title on Saturday (May 11).

Ashland struck first on Friday when sophomore right fielder
Chris Franks delivered an RBI single in the top of the first. The Trojans, however, scored in the bottom of the first to knot the score at 1, then AU kept the early scoring going in the top of the second on a sacrifice fly from junior center fielder
Cam Miller.

Trevecca took the lead for the first time in the bottom of the fourth with a five-spot for a 6-2 advantage. The score stayed that way until the top of the eighth, when, with two outs, sophomore catcher
Collin Overholt hit an RBI single.

- Cangelosi and Franks each had two of AU's seven hits – Cangelosi now sporting a five-game hit streak and getting hits in nine of his last 10 games.
- Sophomore left-handed pitcher Seth Witt (1-1) drew the starting assignment from Friday, going 4 2/3 innings, striking out one, and allowing eight hits, six runs and two walks.
