Track and Field Dusty Sloan, Ashland University Director of Athletic Communications

No. 23 AU Men, Eagle Women Compete At Wooster Invitational

Ashland University's No. 23-ranked men's outdoor track and field team, and the Eagle women's outdoor squad, took part in the Wooster Invitational on Friday and Saturday (April 5-6).
 
On Saturday, Ashland athletes turned in a pair of new provisional marks for the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships, May 23-25 in Emporia, Kan.. Junior Mia Gardner won the women's 400-meter dash in 55.89 seconds for a new provo and a stadium record, while sophomore Jaycob Kolleda won the men's high jump at 2.05 meters/6-feet-8¾.
 
Also on Saturday, the men's 4x400 relay team of senior Brenden Jackson, junior Jacob Pielech, sophomore Derrick Amapps and junior Noah Wood was second with an improved provo of 3:13.43.
 
FIRST PLACE – The women's 4x400 relay team of freshman Cassidy Shimp, senior Alena Williams, junior Greta Barker and redshirt freshman Hailey Rios (47.23 seconds, stadium record); redshirt freshman Roosevelt Zeigler in the men's 100 dash (10.63 seconds, stadium record), Rios in the women's 200 dash (24.80 seconds, stadium record), redshirt freshman Faith Anderson in the women's discus (33.58 meters/110-feet-2), freshman Odessa Smith in the women's 100 hurdles (14.38 seconds), junior Ethan Schuster in the men's 400 dash (48.69 seconds), junior D.J. Duncan in the men's 110 hurdles (14.70 seconds), junior Kelsey Kinsley in the women's shot put (13.65 meters/44-feet-9½), freshman Alex Eggleston in the men's 400 hurdles (54.19 seconds), Williams in the women's 100 dash (11.99 seconds), freshman Colton Thress in the men's 800 run (1:52.40), junior Sarah Masuoka in the women's pole vault (3.77 meters/12-feet-4½), junior Abby Below in the women's 400 hurdles (1:04.49), Zeigler in the men's 200 dash (21.35 seconds), and the women's 4x400 relay of fifth-year Cassandra Ponzi, senior McKenna Woodruff, Rios and senior Hope Sievert (4:01.59, stadium record).
 
SECOND PLACE – Senior Elizabeth Adams in the women's 400 dash (55.96 seconds), junior Julian Griffin in the men's 110 hurdles (14.95 seconds), junior Catherine Dial in the women's shot put (13.37 meters/43-feet-10½), junior Dylan Phelps in the men's 400 hurdles (54.99 seconds), Rios in the women's 100 dash (12.05 seconds), sophomore Daylen Madison in the men's 800 run (1:52.67), Williams in the women's 200 dash (25.09 seconds), the men's 4x100 relay of senior Keshun Jones, freshman Lucas Anderson, sophomore Levi Hondred and Zeigler (42.00 seconds), sophomore Abby Wheeler in the women's high jump (1.59 meters/5-feet-2½), Woodruff in the women's 800 run (2:16.40), junior Brock Janowicz in the men's discus (45.12 meters/148-feet-0), and Anderson in the men's 200 dash (21.52 seconds).
 
THIRD PLACE – Senior Emma Liberatore in the women's high jump (1.59 meters/5-feet-2½), Ponzi in the women's 800 run (2:18.33), freshman Justin Patrick in the men's discus (42.22 meters/138-feet-6) and men's shot put (15.10 meters/49-feet-6½), sophomore Jade Avance in the women's 400 dash (57.41 seconds), Anderson in the men's 100 dash (10.75 seconds), freshman Alexis Steward in the women's 100 dash (12.21 seconds), sophomore Nate Slater in the men's 800 run (1:54.38), Barker in the women's 200 dash (25.18 seconds), freshmen Abbey Krile and Brianna Taber in the women's pole vault (3.32 meters/10-feet-10¾), freshman Josalynn Patterson in the women's 400 hurdles (1:08.30), freshman Sidney Sheppert in the women's triple jump (10.80 meters/35-feet-5¼), the women's 4x400 relay team of Below, junior Hannah Berheide, Smith and sophomore Medgine Wojton (4:08.01), and the men's 4x400 relay quarter of Eggleston, Thress, Schuster and junior Joe Wahl (3:17.52).
 
In Friday's field events, redshirt freshman Leslie Pollock earned a new provo in the women's hammer throw, winning at 52.68 meters/172-feet-10.
 
FIRST PLACE – Junior Jesse Houle in the men's hammer throw (63.65 meters/208-feet-10), senior Kaylin Martin in the women's long jump (5.04 meters/16-feet-6½), junior Caden Morris in the men's long jump (6.98 meters/22-feet-10¾), and senior Riley Thomas in the women's javelin throw (31.45 meters/103-feet-2).
 
SECOND PLACE – Janowicz in the men's hammer throw (54.90 meters/180-feet-10), Sheppert in the women's long jump (5.01 meters/16-feet-5¼), freshman Landon McFrederick in the men's long jump (6.45 meters/21-feet-2), freshman Kara Fields in the women's javelin (28.93 meters/94-feet-11), freshman Gavin Mullen in the men's javelin throw (40.42 meters/132-feet-7), and junior Kaylyn Barnette in the women's hammer throw (51.11 meters/167-feet-8).
 
THIRD PLACE – Freshman Ethan Yoder in the men's long jump (6.38 meters/20-feet-11¼), Liberatore in the women's javelin throw (27.57 meters/90-feet-5), junior Wyatt Cory in the men's javelin throw (40.36 meters/132-feet-5), and Kinsley in the women's hammer throw (48.19 meters/158-feet-1).
