To end the 2024 regular season, Ashland University's softball team lost 3-2 and won 9-3 at Malone on Saturday (April 27) afternoon.

The Eagles are 19-26 overall and 12-14 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, and the Pioneers are 28-18, 13-13.

Malone struck first in Game 1 with two runs in the bottom of the second inning. In the top of the third, catcher
Jordyn Severns continued her recent strong run at the plate with an RBI double, then the Eagles tied the game at 2 in the top of the sixth when freshman designated player
Delaney Keith drove in a run with a single.

Malone, however, scored a run in the bottom of the sixth for the eventual winning run.

In Game 2, the Eagles struck first thanks to a Malone error in the top of the first. The Pioneers came back with a run in the bottom of the second and two more in the third for a 3-1 lead after three innings.

Freshman pinch-hitter
Kate Kujawski delivered an RBI single in the top of the sixth to cut the AU deficit to 3-2, then senior left fielder
Hayley Krinn drove in the tying run in the sixth with a double.

The Eagles completed the comeback when Severns launched a three-run home run, junior first baseman
Lily Rockwell added a run-scoring single, and senior shortstop
Maddy Burdette hit a two-run single in the top of the seventh.

POST-GAME NUGGETS
- Sophomore second baseman Danielle Robbins was 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Game 1, and junior pitcher Bryn Grabowski (7-7) went the distance on a six-hitter, allowing three runs and a walk and striking out six.
- The nightcap saw Severns finish 2-for-3 with a homer, steal, three runs scored and three RBIs. Sophomore third baseman Amanda Kolar was 3-for-4 with a run scored.
- Sophomore pitcher Delaney Lis (4-9) scattered eight hits over seven innings, striking out two and allowing three runs and a walk.
