In a Tuesday (April 16) road Great Midwest Athletic Conference doubleheader, the No. 8-ranked Ashland University baseball team rallied for a 10-5 win in Game 2 after a 9-8 loss in the opener.

The victory gives the Eagles a 30-6 overall record – the 24
th 30-plus-win season in program history, all since 1994. Ashland also is 16-4 in the Great Midwest – 1½ games ahead of second-place Findlay and three games ahead of both Walsh and Kentucky Wesleyan.

ODU is 18-16, 9-9.

The opener had the Panthers scoring twice in the bottom of the first inning., then the Eagles responding quickly thanks to a two-run single from sophomore right fielder
Chris Franks in the top of the second.

After ODU put up four runs in the bottom of the fourth, Ashland came back once again, posting six runs in the top of the fifth on a bases-loaded walk drawn by junior left fielder
Max Caron, consecutive errors, and RBI singles from Franks and junior designated hitter
Ian Sanders.

The Panthers put up their third crooked number of Game 1 in the bottom of the sixth, scoring three times to take a 9-8 lead.

Game 2 saw Ohio Dominican score first again, as two in the first and one in the second made it a 3-0 lead early. The Eagles, however, took flight thereafter – starting with a four spot in the top of the fourth to take the lead. Junior first baseman

Collin Overholt, and a sacrifice fly from Caron, put AU on top.

Then, in the top of the fourth, Peltz's RBI single made it 5-3, and an RBI knock by graduate shortstop
Devin Hukill and a sac fly from junior center
Cam Miller in the fifth upped the lead to 7-3. Sanders then cleared the bases with a double in the sixth to make it 10-3.

POST-GAME NUGGETS
- Franks was 2-for-4 with three RBIs in Game 1, moving his hitting streak to 17 games – a streak which ended in Game 2.
- Senior right-hander Austin Hamilton (2-1) allowed three runs, a hit and a walk and struck out three in 1 1/3 innings.
- In Game 2, Miller went 2-for-4 with a double, stolen base, run scored and RBI – and moved his hit streak to 13 games. Sanders drove in three runs, and Peltz added two RBIs – as Peltz has collected 30 RBIs in just 63 at-bats in 2024.
- Junior righty Ethan Stevens (4-1) earned the relief win, going four scoreless innings with seven strikeouts and allowing four hits.
