A key Great Midwest Athletic Conference men's basketball game in Canton, Ohio, on Saturday (Feb. 24) afternoon went the way of Malone, as Ashland University lost on the road, 67-60.
The Eagles are 16-9 overall and 10-8 in the league, and the Pioneers are 14-12, 7-11.
Malone went ahead on a 3-point field goal in the waning seconds of the first half, 31-30, and didn't relinquish the lead for the remainder of the game. Ashland moved to within a point at 59-58 in the final 90 seconds after a trey from sophomore point guard
Simon Wheeler, but Malone scored eight of the game's final 10 points to pull away.

- Three Eagles finished with double-digit points on Saturday – sophomore forward Maceo Williams (17 points, eight rebounds), Wheeler (14 points, four rebounds, six assists), and senior center Victor Searls (10 points, 12 rebounds).
