No. 20 Eagle Women Rout Storm On Road, 70-40

The No. 20-ranked Ashland University women's basketball team defeated Lake Erie, 70-40, on the road on Monday (Dec. 16) night in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference contest.

A third straight victory puts the Eagles at 9-3 overall and 3-1 in the league, while the Storm is 2-5, 0-3. Ashland is 24-0 all-time vs. Lake Erie.

Ashland used the long ball to take an early lead, as a pair of 3-point field goals from senior forward Zoe Miller made it a 10-2 game at the first-quarter media timeout. A layup from graduate guard Lydia Sweeney put AU up by double digits for the first time at 14-4, and thanks to 13 Miller points, the end of the first quarter had the Eagles up 21-4.

Despite a prolonged scoring drought in the second quarter, Ashland went into the locker room leading 35-12. Miller had 15 points at the half, and the Eagles were out-rebounding the Storm by a 23-6 count.

The two teams played even in the third quarter, with Ashland heading into the fourth with a 52-29 advantage.
