To finish the Motor City Shakedown on Tuesday (Oct. 1), Ashland University's men's golf team moved up one spot to end in third place in the nine-team field.
The Eagles' final team score was 297-284—581, and the second-round 284 marks the fourth round in the last five with a total of 285 or lower. That 284 is tied for the sixth-lowest round for an AU men's golf team since 1996-97.
Freshman
Charlie Fish ended as low man for the Eagles on the tournament. Fish tied for 11
th individually at 74-72—146, and had four birdies on Tuesday to end with eight on the tourney.
Three AU players all tied for 15
th – senior
Matthew McMullen (75-72—147), junior
Carter Mishler (76-71—147) and freshman
Shaun Mazzalupi (78-69—147). McMullen had two birdies on Tuesday and four on the tourney, Mishler ended with five on Tuesday and seven over two days, and Mazzalupi eagled hole No. 5 on Tuesday, to go with four birdies on the day and seven total.

- Freshman Mark Pillar finished in a tie for 25th (72-78—150, seven tournament birdies), while another rookie, Michael Fickle, tied for 45th (78-81—159, two tournament birdies).
- Host Wayne State won the event at 290-277—567, followed by Saginaw Valley State (289-288—577) and Ashland.
