No. 12 Men, No. 21 Women Finish Action At Kent State

On Saturday (Jan. 27) afternoon at Kent State, Ashland University's No. 12-ranked men and No. 21-ranked women finished action at the Doug Raymond National Qualifier.
 
Highlighting the day was junior Jacob Pielech, who won the men's 400-meter dash by as close of a margin as one can (47.946 seconds to 47.950 seconds), and earned a new provisional mark for the 2024 NCAA Division II Championships, March 8-9 in Pittsburg, Kan., in the process. Pielech also was part of the winning men's 4x400 relay that won and improved upon a previous provo time to 3:15.86, along with junior Ethan Schuster, junior Noah Wood and senior Brenden Jackson.
 
Also winning and improving upon a previous provo time was sophomore Daylen Madison, who took the men's 800 run in 1:52.02.
 
Junior Kelsey Kinsley was fourth in the women's shot put at 14.54 meters/47-feet-8½, and improved upon her previous provo distance.
 
Also on Saturday:

• The women's 4x400 relay team of senior Elizabeth Adams, sophomore Jade Avance, junior Madison Stacey and junior Mia Gardner won in 3:49.24.
• Placing second were freshman Colton Thress in the men's 800 run (1:52.67), the women's 4x400 relay of freshman Jordan Rosales, senior McKenna Woodruff, junior Greta Barker and fifth-year Cassandra Ponzi (4:00.29), senior T.J. Skinner in the men's 60 hurdles (7.94 seconds), and Ponzi in the women's 800 run (2:15.92).
• The men's 4x400 relay of freshman Brian Turner, Thress, Skinner and junior Julian Griffin was third in 3:21.95.
