Hammer Throw Standouts Begin 13th Ashland Alumni Open

In less-than-ideal weather conditions on Friday (April 27), the 13th Ashland Alumni Open got underway.
 
And, as usual, the hammer throwers took center stage.
 
NOTABLES
  • In the women's elite hammer throw, sophomore Kelsey Kinsley improved upon her previous provisional distance for the 2023 NCAA Division II Championships, May 25-27 in Pueblo, Colo. Kinsley finished in second place with a top heave of 56.18 meters/184-feet-4.
  • Also in the women's elite hammer, fifth-year Carrol Pauley improved upon her previous provo, as well, taking third at 56.08 meters/184-feet-0.
  • In the men's elite hammer, Ashland head coach A.G. Kruger not only competed, but won at 64.93 meters/213-feet-0.
