To end a Great Midwest Athletic Conference southern road swing, Ashland University's softball team lost 2-0 and 9-5 at Trevecca Nazarene on Sunday (April 2).

The Eagles move to 11-19 overall and 5-5 in the Great Midwest, while the Trojans improve to 21-9, 7-1.

Sunday's opener saw the Trojans score once each in the bottom of the third and sixth innings. Ashland had just five hits, with senior right fielder
Haylee Frost going 2-for-2.

In Game 2, the Eagles scored first in the top of the first thanks to an RBI single from sophomore designated player
Cassidy Shaffer. Trevecca Nazarene scored once in the first and six times in the fifth for a 7-1 lead through five.

Ashland scored once in the sixth when freshman pinch-hitter
Ashley Veldheer grounded out. The Trojans posted two runs in the sixth, then the Eagles tried a seventh-inning comeback, scoring three times but coming up short. Senior center fielder
Lauren McMillin had an RBI on a TNU error, Shaffer drove in a run with a single, and McMillin scored on another Trojan miscue.

- In Game 1, senior pitcher Kayla Ruperto (2-5) threw a complete-game five-hitter, allowing two runs and two walks and striking out one.
- Shaffer went 3-for-4 with two RBIs in Game 2. Freshman pitcher Delaney Lis (2-4) allowed eight hits, six runs (four earned) and a walk in 4 2/3 innings.
