Ashland Men, Women Add To Provisional Marks On Light Giver Day No. 2

The second day of the second Jud Logan Light Giver Open at the Niss Athletic Center saw Ashland University's men's and women's indoor track and field team continue to compile provisional marks for the 2023 NCAA Division II Indoor Championships, March 10-11 in Virginia Beach, Va.
 
WHAT HAPPENED

• Sophomore Caden Morris improved upon his previous provisional mark in the men's long jump, winning the event at 7.30 meters/23-feet-11½. The women's 4x400-meter relay also improved on its past provisional, as seniors Cheyanne Davis and Macy Creamer, freshman Jade Avance and sophomore Mia Gardner won in 3:50.33.
• New provisional marks were turned in by junior Wyatt Cory in the men's heptathlon (second, 4,856 points), junior Cole LaRoche in the men's shot put (16.60 meters/54-feet-5½), Avance in the women's 400 dash (56.74 seconds), and the men's 4x400 relay quartet of senior Tim Rumas, junior Brendan Jackson, freshman Jacob Pielech, and sophomore Noah Wood (3:15.49).
• Taking second place were freshman Abby Wheeler in the women's high jump (1.60 meters/5-feet-3) and senior Morgan Dennis in the women's 60 dash (7.70 seconds).
• Third-place finishes were earned by junior Alena Williams in the women's 60 dash (7.72 seconds), junior T.J. Skinner in the men's 60 hurdles (8.07 seconds), sophomore Kelsey Kinsley in the women's shot put (13.98 meters/45-feet-10½), junior Riley Thomas in the women's long jump (5.60 meters/18-feet-4½), and Wood in the men's 400 dash (48.78 seconds).
