Thanks to a pair of wins on Sunday (Feb. 26) at Concord, Ashland University's baseball team is off to a 3-0 start.

The Eagles took both ends of the doubleheader on Sunday against the Mountain Lions (4-5), winning 6-5 and 9-4.

In Sunday's opener, Ashland broke a 1-1 tie with a four-spot in the top of the fifth. Fifth-year right fielder
Seth Schroeder rapped a two-run single, sophomore designated hitter
Sam Witt added a sacrifice fly, and sophomore third baseman
Cam Scott tripled for another run.

After Concord scored four times in the bottom of the sixth to square the game at 5, the eventual winning run came home on Scott's RBI single in the top of the seventh.

Game 2 saw the two teams trade zeros for the first five innings, then Ashland put up crooked numbers in each of the last four frames.

- In the sixth, Scott and sophomore shortstop Jeremiah Cangelosi each had RBI singles.
- The seventh saw Witt collect a run-scoring single, then Scott drive in two with a single.
- In the eighth, sophomore catcher Ben Peltz had an RBI single, and Scott walked with the bases loaded.
- Then, in the ninth, Peltz accounted for both runs thanks to an RBI double and scoring on a wild pitch.

NOTABLES
- In Game 1, junior right-hander Zac Common (1-0) earned the victory in relief, striking out three and not allowing a hit in 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Sophomore center fielder Cam Miller was 3-for-4 and scored twice, Schroeder was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored and Scott was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs.
- Witt (3-for-5, RBI, run scored), Scott (3-for-4, triple, run scored, four RBIs) and Peltz (3-for-3, double, two RBIs, three runs scored) each had three hits, and Schroeder (2-for-6, run scored) and Cangelosi (2-for-5, RBI) each added two.
- Senior righty Josh Meyer (1-0) went the first 5 1/3 innings, striking out two and giving up three hits, a run and two walks. Another senior righty, Brad Wolfe, earned his first save after 2 1/3 scoreless innings.
