Eagle Men, Women Tune Up For Conference Meet At Mount Union

Ashland University's men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed on Saturday (Feb. 18) at Mount Union's Raider Tune-Up.
 
WHAT HAPPENED

• Two Eagle women improved upon their previous provisional marks for the 2023 NCAA Division II Indoor Championships, March 10-11 in Virginia Beach, Va. Sophomore Kaylyn Barnette won the women's weight throw at 17.52 meters/57-feet-6, while sophomore Sarah Masuoka was the runner-up in the women's pole vault at 3.97 meters/13-feet-0¼.
• Earning victories on Saturday were junior Emma Liberatore in the women's high jump (1.66 meters/5-feet-5¼), fifth-year Storm Elsesser in the men's high jump (2.00 meters/6-feet-6¾), and sophomore Kelsey Kinsley in the women's shot put (14.39 meters/47-feet-2½).
• Second-place finishes came from freshman Abby Wheeler in the women's high jump (1.61 meters/5-feet-3½), senior Emma Hinkle in the women's 800-meter run (2:25.07), and sophomore Brock Janowicz in the men's weight throw (19.33 meters/63-feet-5).
• Junior Cole LaRoche was third in the men's shot put (16.25 meters/53-feet-3¾), and senior Tim Rumas was third in the men's 60 dash (6.97 seconds).
• On Friday (Feb. 17) at Akron's Fourth Annual Al Campbell Invitational, the men's 4x400 relay of freshman Derrick Amapps, juniors Brenden Jackson and Jacob Pielech and sophomore Noah Wood won in 3:17.95.
