Ashland University's men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed at two venues over the weekend, and continued to look to add and improve upon previous provisional marks for the 2023 NCAA Division II Indoor Championships, March 10-11 in Virginia Beach, Va.

WHAT HAPPENED
- On Friday (Feb. 10) at the Grand Valley State Big Meet, both of the Eagle 4x400-meter relays improved upon their previous provisional times. The men's 4x4 of freshman Derrick Amapps, sophomore Colin Roberts, junior Jacob Pielech and sophomore Noah Wood took second place in 3:15.46, and the women's 4x4 of freshmen Montana Walker and Jade Avance, sophomore Mia Gardner and senior Macy Creamer was fourth in 3:49.18.
- Then, on Saturday (Feb. 11) at the Spire Indoor Games, sophomore Sarah Masuoka moved up the D-II ladder in the women's pole vault, taking second at 3.85 meters/12-feet-7½.
- Also at Spire, sophomore Jacob Bechtel won the men's weight throw with a top mark of 16.25 meters/53-feet-4, and a second-place finish was turned in by junior Kaylin Martin in the women's long jump (5.56 meters/18-feet-3).
- Third-place showings were earned on Saturday by sophomore Kelsey Kinsley in the women's weight throw (17.64 meters/57-feet-10) and women's shot put (14.14 meters/46-feet-4Âľ), sophomore D.J. Duncan in the men's 60-meter hurdles (8.26 seconds), sophomore Caden Morris in the men's long jump (7.07 meters/23-feet-2ÂĽ), freshman Cy Starcher in the men's 200 dash (21.92 seconds), and freshman Brayden Jackson in the men's pole vault (4.70 meters/15-feet-5).

The last meet for Ashland's men and women before hosting the 2023 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships (Feb. 24-25) will be Feb. 18's Mount Union Raider Tune-Up.
