Eagle Grapplers Move Up To No. 12 In Latest NWCA Rankings

In the first 2023-24 regular-season rankings released by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) on Monday (Dec. 4) afternoon, Ashland University has moved up three spots to No. 12 in NCAA Division II, with three grapplers in the top 12 in their respective weight classes.
 
The Eagles were slotted at No. 15 in the preseason rankings. The latest ranking is AU's highest as a team since also being No. 12 on Jan. 21, 2022.
 
Ashland's trio of individually-ranked wrestlers are:

• Grad 184-pounder Daniel Beemer (0-0 record), ranked No. 2.
• Sophomore 174-pounder Nate Barrett (5-2 record), ranked No. 4.
• Grad 157-pounder Drew Wiechers (7-1 record), ranked No. 8.

Ashland will open its 2023-24 home slate on Wednesday (Dec. 6) at 7 p.m. at Kates Gymnasium vs. No. T-21 Mercyhurst.
